University is not the only Path with Kerrie Forde

Welcome to our video podcast: Different voices and Different Eyes on learning, parenting, education and more…

Myriam talks with Kerrie Forde who is a 3rd year student of Nursing in Athlone IT. Kerrie explains her path to studying nursing, from the courage to say enough! and drop off university to finding her way to study for the job she’s always wanted.

As a parent of 2 teenagers I find it so refreshing to hear that there are other ways to get to a job than attending university. As Kerrie explains very well, university is not for everybody. Post Leaving Cert courses, apprenticeships for example offer a different approach to learning which suit a lot of young people.

This may not look like a typical podcast I do, but I am interested in learning in all its forms and am a firm believer that learning takes place everywhere and not only at school or university.

With my video podcasts, I am interested in having a chat with people who are experiencing and encouraging learning, play, education, parenting and anything to do with children’s growth and well-being, but from a new or different angle. I hope you find this video podcast interesting, entertaining and fun.
